August 2007 | Viennese buy the ABC-Tower
The German investment market is booming. Locations which were previously not of prime impor-
tance for the acquisition activity of international investors are also benefiting from this. The city of
Cologne has now shown with a spectacular deal that the local property market is open for interna-
tional capital.
The Austrian investment company Akron, which is based in Vienna, has acquired the ABC-Tower at
Cologne/Bonn Airport, probably its biggest office building in Germany so far. The vendor is the Sieg-
burg industrialist, Andreas Heyer (Heyer Regelungstechnik), who completed the property in 2002.
He sold it in the form of a share deal for approx. 70 million euros. Degen Real-Estate Consulting,
Cologne, was involved in an advisory and mediatory capacity.
The striking features of the property were the decisive factor for Akron, which intends to acquire further
